Now What Do You Think About This?

OK!! More or less of this or that...give us your ideas...remember...there is no bad idea.

Keep it real and please keep it clean...make it fun and get creative...and be sure to check back often...use this as a tool for better communication with not just the Board...but with your fellow members....have fun with it.

We'll also be posting new questions often.....and as usual....Thank you in advance!

I would like to see the tennis "shack" spruced up. Now that the new building is being completed, the shack is beginning to look a bit worn...

Is this blog for the TC Tennis Association only or also for the Tega Cay Tennis Club membership and it's benefits? I used to be a member of the Tennis Club. The TA doesn't have any responsiblity for running the TCTennis membership - or does it?
I would like:
1)Club members to be allowed to bring a paying guest anytime. The golf course charges a greens fee for guests to play. The guest should pay a court fee, say $5. IN the past there has been a limit of three visits for a guest. Therefore many courts go unused. The extra money is pure profit for TCTennis, probably hundreds of dollars a month could be generated. If a visitor played only 3-4 month, it would be worthwhile for him/her join instead. Considering there's not any real maintenance for using a court, this would be profitable. Golfers can take a guest unlimited times.
2)Could the Shack stock items: Balls at a reasonable price, grip wrap etc, sunscreen. Not a lot of things, but more for emergencies. But I'm not sure who would work at the Shack during the day/weekend though to offset the costs. Other tennis clubs (Palisades) is run by the pros.
3)On-Line sign up for courts. I live closer into town (Ft.Mill) and it would be helpful to do this via computer to check availablity. I'm not very computer savvy so I couldn't help set this up - sorry.
Just some thoughts! Thanks for having the blog.

Hello especially you BC...great comments and ideas...this Blog is for everyone interested in or involved with TC tennis...The TA is getting more Pro-Active in the membership loop-I agree with you on the guest fee suggestion and will take it to the GM for consideration...we are currently ...real time...working on getting more items in the tennis hut for the benefit of members and their guests as you have pointed out...on-line reservation was proposed last year and now with the management change perhaps we can make that a reality soon..."Thank You" for your suggestions and ideas...we hear you clearly!...We hope you'll consider joining as a memeber again...Please come by March 1 for the Open Tennis Event 2pm-5pm and say hello...I look forward to meeting you...Jesse D- Pres-TCTA

I too agree with BC about letting guest pay a fee. There have been times a few of us played with only 3 people instead of 4 for doubles, because of the rule -guest play 3 times. Our fourth player had already played 3 times and was not ready to join TC. The person was already a member of another club.
Great suggestions BC. I think if this change was made we would see the courts used more.

Does anyone know if there is a time set aside for drop in doubles, at different levels?

As long as the City owns the courts at the tennis center and the "free" courts near the city maintenance sheds, and allows non-tax paying, non resident people play for free on the courts by the maintenance sheds, why should anyone pay to join the tennis club?

Notice I call it the Tennis Club and not Tennis Shack, which to me conjures a "run down" place.

Thank you, Jesse, and the board for creating this blog site and allowing us to "say what's on our mind". I am a tennis club member.

A tennis club member stated: "why should anyone pay to join the tennis club?" when you can use the lower courts for free.
That's a great question. Why did you join? If you can play at the lower "free" courts what advantage is gained by being a member at the upper courts.
The only benefits for me would be these: I can signup for a court, and the bathroom is nicer. That's it. That's why I cancelled my membership. A problem for our USTA team is having enough courts to practice on, so we practice each week at another location in Ft Mill, and rotate in players (not enough courts). If there was a fee for guests, our non-members would pay to practice weekly, and the club would make money. Instead, the courts go unused and are sometimes empty. Three of the lower courts are taken each morning by 8:30, and we can't get there early enough to secure courts.
